Job summary

Megger is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own mechanical design from concept through release for a range of electronic and electrical test equipment, ensuring solutions meet cost, quality and safety requirements.

You will create 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, produce detailed drawings and BOMs, provide production support post-release, assist with product transfers to the Dover site and contribute to PLM and DFMA improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical or Production Engineering (or equivalent experience); professional membership desirable
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering role
• Experience of overhead electrical lines and line monitoring systems is preferred
• Proven experience in mechanical design, including concept development through to production release
• Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) with the ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and BOMs
• Strong understanding of DFMA, electromechanical assemblies, and manufacturing processes (plastics, sheet metal, machined parts)
• Knowledge of mechanical standards, material selection, and design compliance (including BS EN 61010 and EMC principles)

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities on assigned projects from concept through to release
• Translate product requirements into clear and robust mechanical design specifications
• Produce 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks (or equivalent)
• Support production teams post-release, including troubleshooting and design improvements
• Support transfer of new products to the Dover site and contribute to PLM system implementation
