Job summary

Extension Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading global manufacturer in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. You will own the full lifecycle from concept through production, tackling diverse mechanical and mechatronic systems using 3D CAD and FEA.

Requirements include a degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in design, and strong CAD skills. Experience with hydraulic systems is advantageous; you will coordinate testing and liaise with teams and suppliers across global

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software; experience with hydraulic systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver design projects within agreed timelines.
• Develop design concepts meeting quality, cost and delivery targets.
• Create layout models and detailed drawings, including BOMs and documentation.
• Define and coordinate testing requirements, analyze results and implement design changes.
• Manage outsourced design activities and liaise with internal teams, suppliers and customers across global sites.
