Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Tyne & Wear to lead mechanical design for electromechanical products from concept to production. This permanent position offers hybrid working.

The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering analysis, practical design for manufacture, and hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Key responsibilities include managing design processes and collaborating with testing and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical design for rotating equipment and drivetrain-style assemblies.
• Ability to apply DFM/DFA and DFMEA/PFMEA principles.
• Practical experience supporting builds/testing in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical design on electromechanical products.
• Own mechanical design and support release to manufacture.
• Manage suppliers and collaborate with manufacturing/test teams.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Permanent) - Tyne & Wear (Hybrid)

Tyne & Wear-based engineering organisation seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical design on electromechanical products - from clean-sheet concept through prototype build/test and into production.

What you'll do

• Own mechanical design for rotating equipment and drivetrain-style assemblies (plus associated components as needed)
• Lead concept development, prototyping and validation
• Deliver engineering analysis (hand calcs and CAE) and design for reliability/durability
• Produce 3D CAD models and 2D drawings; support release to manufacture
• Apply DFM/DFA and DFMEA/PFMEA
• Work with manufacturing/test teams and manage suppliers

What you’ll need

• Engineering analysis experience (e.g., CAE tools)
• Practical experience designing for manufacture and supporting builds/testing
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Gears/transmissions/bearings or similar calculations
