Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for an Exeter-based role. Office Based with hybrid option (1 day a week from home), you’ll develop products from concept through production, using Solid Edge or SolidWorks to create detailed drawings for manufacture.

You will join a design and manufacturing team focused on NPD and manufacturable design, collaborating with Development, Production Engineering and Purchasing to ensure smooth handover of designs to production.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment; sheet metal experience advantageous.
• Proficient with Solid Edge and SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles.

Responsibilities

• Producing detailed engineering drawings for manufacture.
• Supporting new product development and design-to-manufacture handover.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Office Based, Exeter - commutable from Sidmouth, Exmouth, Torquay, Tiverton and surrounding areas.

£36,500-£40,000 + Office Based, Monday to Friday + Hybrid (1 day a week from home) + Holiday + Pension + Company Benefits + Early Finish on Fridays

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to build deep technical expertise in product development? Do you have experience taking products from concept through to production-ready design, with Solid Edge or SolidWorks?

This is a secure, permanent position where you'll be trusted to own engineering design work end-to-end, while being properly supported by an established technical team and strong company benefits package.

You'll be joining a design and manufacturing business supplying products internationally, with a strong focus on quality standards and design-for-manufacture-ideal if you enjoy doing things properly and seeing your designs make it to production.

Working within the existing design team, you'll produce detailed engineering drawings for manufacture, support new product development, and collaborate closely with Development, Production Engineering and Purchasing to ensure smooth product handover.

This role suits a Mechanical Design Engineer motivated by technical progression and becoming a recognised specialist, with structured engineering work across NPD and manufacturable design rather than a "same drawings every day" routine.

The Role:

• Mechanical Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/ Production Engineer / Development Engineer
• Developing new and existing products
• Concept to Completion
• Working within Engineering team
• Working with a team to resolve process issues and identify areas for improvement

The Person:

• Mechanical Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/ Production Engineer / Development Engineer or similar backgrounds all considered
• Experience working in a Manufacturing environment - sheet metal experience would be advantageous
• Knowledge and experience using Solid Edge / Solid Works
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical principals (qualifications ideally)
