Job summary

Volution Ventilation UK is seeking a Design Engineer to generate solutions from concept to production, using Autodesk Inventor for 3D CAD and producing BS 8888 drawings. You will lead design across plastic and sheet-metal components, manage complex assemblies and coordinate with suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.

You will apply FEA and CFD where appropriate, support prototype and testing, and deliver practical, cost-effective solutions within time and budget constraints.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical/air design or product design engineering with 2:1 or higher.
• 2+ years in mechanical design or product development role.
• Strong 3D CAD capability using Autodesk Inventor or comparable software.
• Experience designing plastic injection-m moulded and sheet-metal parts for manufacture.
• Experience creating complex assemblies and engineering drawings to BS 8888.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, fastening methods and DFMA.
• Experience developing products for volume manufacture and working with suppliers.
• Strong planning, problem-solving and communication skills to manage priorities and deliver on time.

Responsibilities

• Develop ventilation products from concept through design, validation and production.
• Create 3D CAD models of components and assemblies using Inventor.
• Design components for injection-moulding, sheet-metal and other processes.
• Build and maintain complex CAD assemblies with multiple parts.
• Produce accurate drawings to BS 8888 and manage engineering docs.
• Develop cost-effective solutions to product briefs.
• Support prototype manufacture, testing and design refinement.
• Apply FEA/CFD analyses and manage subcontracted analyses.
• Coordinate with suppliers on tooling proposals and project activity.
• Plan and deliver projects within time, cost, quality, and performance targets.
