Job summary

Sustainable Talent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer / Project Engineer in Cheltenham to support a major energy and utilities infrastructure programme. The role combines design, engineering assurance and project delivery across a long-term portfolio.

The candidate will develop mechanical and process designs, review PFDs/P&IDs, perform calculations, specify equipment and participate in HAZOP/HAZID and risk assessments, while liaising with suppliers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or similar.
• Experience within energy, utilities, industrial or process environments.
• Knowledge of pressure systems, pipework and process equipment.
• Strong understanding of process safety and engineering standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review mechanical and process engineering designs.
• Review PFDs and P&IDs.
• Carry out engineering calculations and technical assessments.
• Specify mechanical and process equipment.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and design risk assessments.
• Support procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Assist with multidisciplinary design reviews and value engineering.
