Job summary

Kraken Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer at our Blackbushe, United Kingdom office. The role involves joining a team delivering advanced maritime defence technology, with tasks spanning modelling, drawings, and prototype parts ordering.

The candidate should have a university degree in mechanical engineering, strong CAD experience (SolidWorks/Inventor), and 4+ years in product design or development, with detail-oriented BS8888 drawing capabilities and supplier liaison skills.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks and/or Inventor.
• Producing & reading standard engineering drawings and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• 4+ years' experience in industry, working in product development and/or design.
• Demonstrate a sound & comprehensive knowledge of fundamental engineering theories, aptitude for design & ability to problem solve.
• Ability to produce engineering drawings to BS8888 with a high attention to detail.
• Knowledge of manufacturing principles and production processes.
• Ability to contact suppliers.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues throughout the company at all levels and disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Join a team of engineers designing industry leading advanced maritime defence technology.
• Complete mechanical tasks on projects, including modelling, producing engineering drawings and ordering prototype parts.
• Work closely with internal engineering and project teams and deliver high-quality mechanical drawings meeting defence standards.
