Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent role in Hampshire to contribute to advanced maritime defence projects, delivering 3D models, drawings and prototypes for underwater sensing and domain awareness systems. The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering, 4+ years in product development or mechanical design, and strong CAD skills (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor).

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
4+ years of industry experience in product development or mechanical design.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor.
Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings to BS 8888.
Knowledge of manufacturing principles and production processes.
Strong communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver mechanical design solutions and 3D models for subsea and maritime technology.
Produce, review and validate detailed drawings to BS 8888 with high accuracy.
Source prototype components and liaise with suppliers on manufacturing feasibility and lead times.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and project management teams throughout the full product lifecycle.
Apply engineering principles and problem-solving techniques to overcome technical challenges.
Ensure all design outputs comply with quality, manufacturing and defence industry standards.
