Job summary

Lusona Consultancy in Motherwell is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team. You will design and specify mechanical systems across diverse projects, collaborating with experienced engineers to ensure high technical quality and compliance.

The role offers hybrid working arrangements, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and progress toward Chartered Engineer status. A strong background in building services and multidisciplinary teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Progressing towards Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of current building services regulations, standards and design practices.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage workload effectively and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
• A proactive approach with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify mechanical building services systems in accordance with current regulations, industry standards and project requirements.
• Prepare and contribute to technical design deliverables, including calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop integrated and effective design solutions.
• Support project delivery across a variety of sectors, ensuring quality, compliance and client requirements are met.
• Promote and maintain quality assurance and compliance standards throughout project lifecycles.
• Assist in the development and mentoring of graduate and junior engineers.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes, capabilities and technical standards.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders as required.
