Job summary

Ganymede Solutions Ltd is actively recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 6-month contract for a Teesside client with global operations across defence, marine and offshore sectors.

The role focuses on 3D modelling in SolidWorks, developing enclosure modifications, brackets and manifolds, and producing manufacturing drawings for release. You will join a safety-critical design team in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Background in mechanical design or draughting; degree preferred but strong experience considered.
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
• SolidWorks in a real working environment; familiar with assemblies and CAD data management.

Responsibilities

• 3D modelling in SolidWorks – enclosure modifications, brackets, manifolds and layouts.
• Update and maintain existing 3D models and engineering drawings.
• Finalise and issue manufacturing drawings to required standards.
• Define tolerances across designed components.
• Attend weekly cross-functional project meetings with project managers and leads.
• Daily catchups with the mechanical team lead to review workload.

Mechanical Design Engineer

6 month contract

Rate: £38.00 - £42.00p/h

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a key client-based Teesside who are globally recognised engineering and manufacturing business operating across several high-profile industries including defence, marine & offshore. Due to a new project win, they are looking for experienced Mechanical Design Engineers & Draughtsman to join their team on an interim basis for an initial 3–6-month contract.

For this position, you will be required to conduct the following daily duties:

• 3D modelling in SolidWorks - designing enclosure modifications, bespoke brackets, manifolds and internal component layouts
• Supporting, updating and maintaining existing 3D models and engineering drawings
• Finalising and issuing manufacturing drawings to the required standard
• Defining and applying appropriate tolerances across all designed components
• Attending weekly cross-functional project meetings with project managers and technical leads
• Daily catchups with the mechanical team lead to review workload and progress

The successful contractor will need to have the following attributes:

• Solid, hands-on SolidWorks experience used in a real working environment
• Familiarity with assemblies and a mix of commercial off-the-shelf and bespoke parts
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
• Background in mechanical design or draughting - degree qualified ideally, though strong experience will be considered
• PDM experience desirable but not essential - full training provided
