Job summary

Matchtech Group in Cheltenham is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 12‑month contract, onsite three days a week. You will ensure that technical documentation is accurate and compliant, maintain drawing packs, and create BOMs and installation drawings using Creo as the primary tool.

Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter, familiarity with a DOA aerospace environment, and knowledge of GD&T and aerospace manufacturing documentation are highly valued, along with eligibility to obtain

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Eligible for government security clearances.
• Experience with PLM/PDM tools such as Teamcenter.
• Knowledge of aerospace standards and DOA environments.
• Experience with DOA or equivalent aerospace design processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with requirements.
• Review and maintain engineering drawing packs and related documents.
• Create and amend BOMs, assembly and installation drawings.
• Support document release through PLM systems; Teamcenter experience advantageous.
• Liaise with supply chain to manage supplier design and drawings.
• Apply GD&T standards and aerospace manufacturing documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, configuration management and programme teams.

Mechanical Design Engineer

• Location: Cheltenham, 3 days per week onsite
• Rates: 53.10 p/h Umbrella, inside IR35
• Duration: 12-month contract
• Security Clearance: Applicants must be eligible to obtain SC Clearance, however can start on BPSS.

Job Role:

Working closely with Engineering, Configuration Management and Programme teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Ensuring technical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with customer, regulatory, and programme requirements
• Review, update, and maintain engineering drawing packs and associated technical documentation.
• Create and amend Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, installation drawings, and supporting technical documents as required.
• The candidate will require good working knowledge of Creo CAD software. Competency in Solidworks, Catia and NX would also be beneficial.
• Strong Microsoft Word/document management skills to support document formatting, branding updates, and content amendments.
• Support document release activities through established PLM systems and document control processes. Working knowledge of TeamCenter would be advantageous.
• Experience working within engineering configuration and document control processes. Experience with aircraft safety critical products and document release processes would be beneficial.
• Ability to manage high-volume document updates with a high degree of accuracy.
• Liaise with support functions, mainly supply chain to manage supplier agreement on part design and drawings.

Qualifications / Desired Experience

• Relevant qualifications to an appropriate level, typically a Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering
• Eligible to obtain any government security clearances as appropriate to the local business.
• Experience using PLM/PDM tools such as Teamcenter.
• Experience of Creo, Solidworks, Catia & NX
• Knowledge of aerospace standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience working within Design Organisation Approval (DOA) or equivalent aerospace environments.
