Independent M&E Consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Building Services Engineer (Intermediate/Senior) to lead design from concept through to commissioning. The role involves hands-on calculation, plantroom layout, and BIM coordination with architects and the wider team.

You will work on diverse projects across education, commercial, healthcare and public sectors, with a clear route to Senior/Principal and CPD-backed progression.

Formación

• Strong mechanical building services design background from consultancy or design & build.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience with MagiCAD, Hevacomp, IES VE or TAS.

Responsabilidades

• Lead mechanical design from concept to detailed design (HVAC, heating, cooling, LTHW, CHW, public health).
• Run heating and cooling load calculations, hydraulics, pipe sizing.
• Layout plantrooms and select equipment.
• Write specifications, reports and technical schedules.
• Coordinate in Revit/BIM with architects, electrical and wider design team.
• Attend client, design team and site meetings.
• Oversee projects through construction, commissioning and handover; manage contractor queries.
• At Senior level, mentor junior engineers.

If you’re a mechanical building services engineer who’s tired of being one name on a drawing register at a big consultancy, here’s the alternative. What you’ll be doing

• Leading mechanical design from concept to detailed design: HVAC, heating, cooling, LTHW, CHW and public health
• Running the numbers yourself: heating and cooling loads, hydraulics, pipe sizing
• Laying out plantrooms and selecting the kit
• Writing the specs, reports and technical schedules
• Coordinating in Revit / BIM with architects, electrical and the wider design team
• Getting out from behind the screen for client, design team and site meetings
• Seeing projects through construction, commissioning and handover, and sorting contractor queries along the way
• At Senior level, bringing junior engineers on

What you’ll bring

• A strong mechanical building services design background from consultancy or Design & Build
• Confidence in Revit and AutoCAD
• Hands-on experience with MagiCAD, Hevacomp, IES VE or TAS
• Real technical depth in HVAC and mechanical systems
• The ability to juggle multiple projects and hit deadlines
• The communication skills to hold your own with clients, contractors and the design team
