Job summary

Pickering Interfaces Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Clacton-on-Sea to design and develop mechanical and electromechanical products from concept through to production. You will run 3D CAD modelling, simulations, prototyping, testing, and documentation while ensuring milestones and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and standards.
• Proven track record of developing and delivering mechanical products and systems.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
• Experience in design for manufacturability, tolerance analysis and cost optimisation.
• Strong 3D CAD modelling and simulation skills.

## Mechanical Design EngineerApply: Clacton-on-Sea: Full time: Posted 4 Days AgoThe Pickering Group is a family-owned, UK-based electronics manufacturer established in 1968, specializing in high-quality switching, simulation, and relay products for industries like aerospace, automotive, and defense.Reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering Department within the Pickering Group, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement. The expectation for this role is that the candidate will grow and develop into an independent Designer working on many projects.Develop innovative mechanical products and systems, from concept to execution.Design and analyse mechanical and electromechanical systems, including 3D CAD modelling and simulation.Oversee the development process to ensure it meets the requirements and timelines.Perform product testing and troubleshoot design failures.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other design engineers and project managers.Develop and maintain technical documentation and drawings for design projects.Mentor and train junior design engineers on technical and design aspects.ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field or experience as a mechanical designer, preferably in a product-based industry. Understanding of manufacturing processes, material and standards. Proven track record of developing and delivering successful mechanical products and systems. Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.Experience in a broad range of skills, including design for Manufacturability, tolerance analysis and cost optimisation.
