Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience in design engineering within marine, automotive, or similar industries.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks CAD.
  • Experience with defence projects is advantageous.

Job description

Hours: Full Time/Permanent (40 hours per week) & Flexible Working

The Role
  • Design and develop complex military and commercial high-speed RHIBs, workboats, and systems in the form of 3D models.
  • Develop drawings and documentation to required specifications.
  • Manage projects from concept to completion.
  • Coordinate with Projects, Purchasing, Production, & Workshop Teams to ensure smooth product development & manufacture.
  • Read and interpret technical specifications.
  • Design and develop high-quality, innovative products to meet technical and commercial requirements.
  • Engage regularly with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Prioritize safety, reliability, quality, and functionality.
Responsibilities
  • Gain in-depth understanding of the Company’s technology and products; stay updated with related mechanical/marine engineering technologies and production techniques.
  • Interpret sales briefings and technical specifications.
  • Design and develop high-quality, innovative products aligning with customer and MST’s requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers, Naval Architects, and Workshop personnel.
  • Produce and maintain accurate technical drawings and documentation, complying with British and European standards.
  • Create technical reports based on research, design concepts, structural analysis, procurement info, and estimations.
  • Follow drawing and document control and revision procedures.
  • Develop composite, machined, sheet metal, and welded fabrications suitable for fabrication capabilities.
  • Review contractors’ work against project requirements and provide feedback.
  • Maintain MST’s ISO 9001 QMS accreditation.
Competence & Experience
  • Experience in design engineering within marine, automotive, or similar industries; proficiency in SolidWorks CAD is essential.
  • Highly focused and diligent.
  • Experience with defence projects is advantageous.
  • Valid full clean driving license.
  • Security screening required due to defence project nature.
  • Eligible to work in the UK (British, EEA, or Swiss citizen) or hold relevant work permits.
