Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Ltd in Torquay is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own mechanical development from concept to implementation. The role is office-based in Devon, with hands-on design, prototyping, and collaboration on electromechanical projects within a regulated environment.

You should have a mechanical engineering background, be confident with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD, and be able to communicate decisions clearly while taking ownership of projects.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering background with design experience.
• SolidWorks or other 3D CAD experience.
• Understanding of how mechanical designs interact with electronics and wider systems.
• Ability to work independently and own projects.
• Knowledge of pressure systems, pipework, valves or pumps (advantageous).

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take ownership of your own projects and work across more than just mechanical design?

Do you want to help develop an innovative medical device in a growing business where your ideas and problem-solving skills will make a visible difference?

This Devon-based company has developed a medical device and is preparing for the next stage of its growth. As the product develops, they are looking for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on work, varied technical challenges and the chance to see projects through from concept to implementation.

In this role, you will design and develop mechanical systems using 3D CAD, work hands‑on with prototypes and solve problems as the product evolves. You will also collaborate on wider electromechanical and system projects, working with specialists rather than needing to design electronics or write software yourself. As part of a regulated business, you will clearly document your work and communicate your decisions to the wider team.

THE ROLE:
