JOB- Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION- Thetford

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £35,000 to £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Premier Engineering is working with a leading manufacturer based in Thetford who specialise in the design and production of sheet metal products. They are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team and support both new product development and ongoing customer projects.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Experience designing sheet metal components and assemblies
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks or Inventor)
• Good understanding of manufacturing techniques including laser cutting, folding, and fabrication
• Knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) principles
• Ability to produce detailed technical drawings and BOMs
• Strong communication and teamworking skills
• A proactive approach with good problem-solving abilities

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Creating 3D models and detailed drawings for sheet metal products
• Working on both standard and bespoke design projects
• Collaborating with production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability
• Supporting product development and continuous improvement initiatives
• Updating and maintaining engineering documentation and technical files
• Participating in design reviews and ensuring compliance with relevant standards
