Job summary

Matchtech in Stevenage is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work within a multi-disciplinary team to progress developmental designs into production and liaise with suppliers.

The role requires Creo 3D experience, knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerance studies, environmental testing and design for manufacture/assembly, with a 12-month contract and hybrid onsite pattern (4 days onsite, 1 day remote).

Responsibilities

• Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
• Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
• Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
• Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
• Planning and reporting on own day–to–day activities to meet project milestones.
• Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity

Overview

You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer's needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi–disciplinary team to perform a range of engineering activities including progressing developmental designs into production environments and working with suppliers on technical queries.
