We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a creative ability to join our design team, bringing a passion for mechanical engineering, a relevant qualification, and SolidWorks CAD experience. You will support existing senior design engineers, work in a collaborative environment, and contribute to ongoing projects.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering background with agricultural industry exposure.
• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.

• Ability to translate field and operator requirements into designs.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate drawings using SolidWorks.
• Support manufacturing team.
• Develop and update product designs per market/customer requirements.
• Ensure designs meet health, safety, and legal requirements.
• Assist with cost-saving design changes.
• Act as contact for technical and product enquiries.
• Collaborate with Design Office Manager and senior engineers on priorities.

Job description

We have been designing and manufacturing agricultural machinery for global markets for over 50 years and have achieved enormous success in our field due to a reputation for innovative, quality products with customer focussed support.

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a creative and forward-thinking ability to join our design team. The successful individual will have a passion for mechanical engineering, preferably an agricultural background, a relevant design engineering qualification and CAD software experience.

Supporting existing senior design engineers with new and ongoing projects, an ability to work in a team environment will be important.

The main duties and responsibilities involve:

• The production of accurate engineering drawings using SolidWorks
• Supporting the in-house manufacturing team
• Develop and update product designs in line with agreed market and customer requirements
• Working with the team, ensure that all new machine designs and developments meet both health and safety and legal requirements
• Assist with initiating cost saving design changes in line with new practices, processes and materials
• Act as a point of contact for internal and external technical and product-related enquiries; portraying the company in a positive light in all communications
• Working in an open and adaptable manner, contributing to the team and assisting others with projects when asked to do so
• Working closely with the Design Office Manager and senior design engineers to give insight into project priorities, time scales and progress

We are seeking the following skills, experience and attributes:

• A mechanical engineering background; ideally from within the agricultural industry
• A relevant engineering qualification such as a Degree, HND or similar in Mechanical/Agricultural/Manufacturing Engineering
• 3D CAD software experience (SolidWorks preferred)
• A positive, ‘can-do’ approach with an enthusiastic and collaborative working style
• A willingness to be ‘hands‑on’ with the products in order to understand their application
• An ability to interpret field and operator requirements into machine design
