Job summary

You will work under the Chief Engineer, focusing on production equipment that is often customer-specific and one-off manufactured, with some travel required (2–3 times per year).

Qualifications

• HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor or other 3D packages.
• Understanding of manufacturing and how that applies to design.
• Willingness to travel 2–3 times per year.

Job description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work for an industrial machinery manufacturer in Ashford.

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this appointment involves all aspects of mechanical design for heavy machinery and also the provision of technical documentation and support to the global customer base. The successful applicant will be working on production equipment much of which, being customer specific, is for one-off manufacture.

Essential skills include:

• HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience of AutoCAD and Inventor or other 3D packages
• Experience of manufacturing and how that applies to design
• Willingness to travel on average 2 – 3 times per year

Desirable skills include:

• Solid practical experience and understanding of inspection and quality control procedures
• Experience of machining of metals
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
