Job summary

Linea Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a well-established MEP consultancy in Kent. You will own projects from concept through completion and receive support toward chartership.

Responsibilities include designing HVAC and related systems, performing heat loss/gain calculations, creating drawings, and coordinating with architects and engineers. Opportunities to mentor junior staff and visit sites are available.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in a mechanical design role within a consultancy or design-and-build environment.
• Good working knowledge of CIBSE guides, Building Regulations and British Standards.
• Working towards or holding IEng/CEng with CIBSE is desirable.
• Organised and confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.

• Design mechanical building services including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, chilled water and public health systems.
• Carry out design calculations including heat loss and gain, duct and pipe sizing, and plant selection.
• Produce drawings, schematics and specifications from RIBA Stage 2 through to Stage 4.
• Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers and electrical colleagues.
• Prepare reports, including Part L compliance, energy strategies and low-carbon solutions such as heat pumps.
• Attend design team meetings and occasional site visits.
• Support and mentor junior engineers as you develop.

The role

About you
