Job summary

Interaction Engineering in Milton Keynes is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop bespoke industrial systems, including X-ray enclosures and multi-axis manipulators. You will create detailed drawings, maintain BOMs, and collaborate with production, electrical and installation teams.

The role requires strong SolidWorks skills and robust experience in mechanical design, with a focus on delivering accurate, high-quality results within a hybrid/remote-friendly

Responsibilities

Salary: £35,000-£40,000 pro rata, depending on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00
Contract: 6 Months, with possible extension

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business in Milton Keynes, working on the design and development of bespoke industrial X-ray systems, enclosures and multi-axis manipulators.

This is a great opportunity for a practical design engineer who enjoys working across projects and collaborating with production, electrical and installation teams.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

• Designing and producing detailed drawings for mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Using SolidWorks 3D CAD to develop and modify designs.
• Working closely with electrical designers and other engineering teams.
• Supporting Project, Production and Installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

We’re looking for someone with solid practical experience in engineering design and project work.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong mechanical engineering design experience.
• Excellent 3D CAD skills, particularly SolidWorks.
• Good knowledge of engineering drawings and assemblies.
• Strong MS Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A genuine pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Desirable: Experience within NDT/X-ray, automation, software or electrical engineering environments.
