Job description

A well-established organisation focusing on the design and manufacture of automation and robotic solutions for a range of industries including automotive, medical, healthcare, and packaging.

With a full order book, they are keen to recruit an additional team member.

Duties

1. Perform mechanical design and detailing functions for a range of bespoke machinery projects using 3D CAD.
2. Negotiate with external suppliers and obtain the most cost-efficient materials in line with project budgets and time plans.
3. Visit customer sites as appropriate to fully understand customer requirements and document and communicate all such requirements to the customer and internal staff.
4. Assess and improve design concepts along with a team at sales quotation stage to reduce risks, costs, and lead times.
5. Conduct project reviews with customers on a periodic basis as agreed with the customer, documenting all issues and reporting on the status of each project.

Mechanical Design Engineer - The Person

• Competence in Mechanical Design, robotics, automation, design of mechanical mechanisms and pneumatic systems would be an advantage.
• Degree qualified HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Expert user of 3D CAD software such as SolidEdge, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully delivering mechanical design projects on time and within budget.
• Knowledge and understanding of various national and international standards for machine design and machine safety systems, including CE marking.

Located in Leicestershire, this role is commutable from Coventry, Leicester, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, and Market Harborough.
