Mechanical Design Engineer

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing and dynamic team based in Birmingham.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will take a leading role in the design of mechanical systems and components, supporting projects from concept through to production. Your responsibilities will include creating functional, cost-effective designs, delivering high-quality CAD models and technical drawings, and leading projects to meet timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design mechanical components, assemblies, and bespoke machinery
2. Work across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept to final production
3. Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and specifications
4. Ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with cost and quality standards
5. Support production and prototype builds where necessary

What We’re Looking For:

1. Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or similar)
2. Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
3. Experience with sheet metal fabrication
4. A background in the machinery design industry
5. Understanding of design for manufacture and engineering best practices
