Job summary

SC ENGINEERING in Leicester is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design bespoke food processing machinery from concept to manufacture. You will produce 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings, and collaborate with production teams to deliver projects on time.

The role requires proven experience in designing food machinery, strong CAD skills (3D CAD), and a practical understanding of manufacturing processes. Hybrid working is available for the right candidate.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Food Machinery

Location: Leicester

Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: On-site / Hybrid working available

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering business based in Leicester.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for taking machinery designs from initial concept through to manufacture, working closely with the wider engineering and production teams.

• Designing and developing bespoke food processing and production machinery
• Producing 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings
• Taking projects from initial concept through to manufacture
• Developing existing machinery and producing design improvements
• Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams
• Producing bills of materials and technical documentation

What We're Looking For

Previous experience designing machinery for the food industry is essential for this position.

• Previous mechanical design engineering experience
• Experience designing food machinery, processing equipment or production machinery
• Strong 3D CAD experience
• Autodesk Inventor experience would be advantageous but isn't essential
• Experience with other CAD packages will be considered if you have relevant food machinery experience
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and mechanical engineering principles
• Ability to take designs from concept through to manufacture

• £35,000 – £55,000 per annum depending on experience
