Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a proven track record in converting customer requirements into accurate engineering data, including assemblies and parts drawings. You will also support sales with installation layouts and respond to technical queries.

The role involves sourcing and advising on special purchase parts for bespoke orders, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering qualification.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD with AutoCAD and Inventor; advanced surfacing, FEA, rendering and animation.
• Understanding of welding, metal fabrication, polishing and assembly of custom industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Convert customer requirements into accurate engineering data, including assemblies and parts drawings.
• Provide technical support to sales, including installation layouts and responses to technical queries.
• Source and advise on special purchase parts for bespoke orders.

My client has over 90 years experience as a leading global automation manufacturer.

As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you ll be responsible for converting customer requirements into accurate engineering data, including assembly and parts drawings. Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in providing technical support to sales, including installation layouts and responses to technical queries, sourcing and advising on special purchase parts for bespoke orders, and collaborating with internal teams and customers to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (vocational or academic)
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD (preferably AutoCAD and Inventor). Advanced skills such as surfacing, FEA, rendering, and animation are highly valued
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially welded metal fabrications, polishing, and custom industrial equipment assembly
• Experience in designing rotary equipment and designing with sheet metal
