Job summary

Elix Sourcing Solutions Limited is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Desborough to lead bespoke design projects. You will develop 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for steel structures and sheet metal using SolidWorks, and perform essential design calculations to validate concepts.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, a strong SolidWorks background with heavy machinery experience, and ability to work across hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems to meet strict

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for steel structures, sheet metal, and mechanisms using SolidWorks

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Produce concepts, 3D CAD models, and detail drawings for steel structures, sheet metal work, and mechanisms using SolidWorks.
• Carry out technical calculations to justify designs, ensure structural integrity, and validate decision-making.
• Lead design aspects of new product development, ensuring all products comply with strict legislative, safety, and goods vehicle criteria.
• Provide clear technical guidance to manufacturing, procurement, and commercial teams to achieve required specifications at best cost.
• Design and integrate ancillary systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrics.

What We're Looking For

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Proven background in 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks) with strong expertise in heavy machinery, structural steelwork, fabrication or lifting equipment, is beneficial, but not essential.
• Capability to perform design calculations independently to validate engineering concepts.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems is highly desirable.
