Job summary

A leading consultancy in engineering design is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Manchester. The role focuses on delivering mechanical design solutions for projects in the UK water industry. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a supportive environment and must demonstrate experience in sewage treatment works or similar infrastructures. This contract position offers a hybrid working arrangement (minimum 3 days in the office) and is outside IR35.

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Rate: Up to £400 per day (Outside IR35, dependent on experience)
Location: Manchester (M32 0RS) – Hybrid working (minimum 3 days per week in the office)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a range of ongoing projects within the UK regulated water industry. The role will focus on UMON projects at Sewage Treatment Works, working closely with a collaborative and experienced engineering design team to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver detailed mechanical design solutions for projects within the UK water sector.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to meet project objectives.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Support projects through all stages, from concept development to detailed design and implementation.
What Our Client Is Looking For
  • Demonstrable experience delivering mechanical design projects within the UK regulated water industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of sewage treatment works or similar utility infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Availability to work from the Manchester office a minimum of three days per week.
