Mechanical Design Engineer – Special Purpose Machinery

Location: Cambridgeshire

Platform Recruitment has partnered with a leading manufacturer of precision-engineered machinery, developing custom solutions from R&D through to on-site commissioning. As part of their expanding design team, they are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in 3D CAD, prototyping, and mechanical product development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Use 3D CAD software to design and develop new machinery
2. Build and test prototypes in the workshop
3. Design and implement practical test procedures
4. Produce and maintain technical documentation
5. Provide technical leadership within the design team

Key Requirements:

1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
2. Ability to produce detailed manufacturing drawings
3. Experience in designing special purpose machinery or industrial equipment
4. Knowledge of fabrication, machining, and assembly techniques
5. Hands-on approach with practical workshop skills
