Teamjobs is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our exclusive client in Yeovil.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated engineer with experience in the aerospace industry. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. The role requires knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines, including familiarity with common concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. The position involves working under supervision to perform job functions.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility to work over 4 days.

The pay rate ranges from £35.00 to £45.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Addressing REACH obsolescence within the current product range, identifying obsolescence issues, and investigating suitable alternatives based on product specifications.
• Supporting development of conceptual designs, including analysis, with an awareness of manufacturing methodologies and cost considerations.
• Detailing design work and managing engineering change processes.
• Managing all drawings and associated project documentation.
• Working on complex aerospace engineering projects across various remits.

Necessary Skills and Requirements:

• Attention to detail when reviewing existing drawings for REACH obsolescence and preparing investigation reports.
• Producing detailed designs and layouts that meet customer requirements and specifications.
• Completing and checking drawing packs and supporting documentation.
• Delivering projects on schedule and meeting milestones within a team environment.
• Flexibility to work in dynamic environments and willingness to go beyond standard responsibilities.
• Experience in small component design, design for manufacture principles, and fine tolerance components is desirable.
