Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Cambridgeshire to contribute to the development of electro‑mechanical products from concept through production.

You will work with experienced engineers and cross‑functional teams, taking ownership of mechanical design projects and delivering robust drawings, prototypes and manufacturing documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline.
• Understand mechanical manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and finishing techniques.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping or workshop-based activities.
• Experience developing consumer, scientific or electro-mechanical products.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs from initial concept through to prototype, manufacture and production.
• Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings.
• Build and assemble prototypes.
• Prepare manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions and technical drawings.
• Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Investigate new materials, manufacturing processes and finishing techniques.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established and innovative product development business. The company designs and manufactures high-quality, technically complex electro-mechanical products, taking projects from initial concept and development through to production.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Engineer looking to develop their career within a hands-on engineering environment. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, gaining exposure to the full product development lifecycle while developing your ability to take ownership of mechanical design projects.
