Mechanical Design Engineer - Yeovil

Teamjobs is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in Yeovil. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for self-motivated engineers with aerospace industry experience.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. A strong knowledge of engineering principles related to engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines is required. The role involves working under supervision to perform various functions within the field.

Working Hours & Pay

Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with potential flexibility for a 4-day workweek.

Pay rate: £35.00 - £45.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Address REACH obsolescence issues within the current product range, identifying and investigating suitable alternatives based on specifications.
• Support concept development, analysis, and manufacturing methodologies with a focus on cost.
• Perform detailed design work and manage engineering changes.
• Maintain all drawings and project documentation.
• Work on complex aerospace engineering projects across various areas.

Skills & Requirements

• Attention to detail when reviewing drawings for REACH obsolescence and preparing investigation reports.
• Produce detailed designs and layouts to meet customer specifications.
• Complete and review drawing packs and supporting documentation.
• Meet project schedules and milestones within a team environment.
• Adaptability and willingness to work beyond comfort zones.
• Experience with small component design, manufacturing principles, and fine tolerances is desirable.
