Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Electro-Mechanical

Location: Buckinghamshire

Platform Recruitment is partnering with a leading company specialising in the design, manufacture, and distribution of scientific electro-mechanical instruments. As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in product development, precision mechanism design, and 3D CAD.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead product development from concept to launch, working on cutting-edge electro-mechanical technologies in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Apply blue sky thinking to drive innovation
2. Utilise 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for precision design
3. Prototype and test designs for performance validation
4. Design precision mechanisms for electro-mechanical systems
5. Oversee product development from concept to manufacturing
6. Mentor and support junior engineers

Key Requirements:

1. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Product Design, or related field) or equivalent experience
2. Strong expertise in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
3. Creativity and a passion for innovation & blue sky thinking
4. Proven experience in precision mechanism design
5. Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including injection moulding
6. Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing
7. Experience in electro-mechanical product design (highly desirable)
