Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading facilities management company to recruit a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for its Decarbonisation and Energy division.

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer role offers a starting salary of up to £90,000 + car allowance + benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
  1. Reporting to the Engineering and Design Director, you will:
  2. Lead mechanical design and engineering efforts across RIBA Stages 2-4, providing technical oversight through project delivery phases (RIBA 5-7).
  3. Design and integrate low-carbon mechanical systems such as heat pumps, HVAC, BMS, and district heating solutions.
  4. Ensure compliance with regulations and standards, including CIBSE, PAS 2035, MCS, and UK Building Regulations.
  5. Lead BIM and CAD coordination to ensure effective integration with multidisciplinary teams.
  6. Develop and refine energy performance modelling tools for mechanical systems analysis and optimisation.
  7. Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary design integration, ensuring continuity across mechanical, electrical, and energy systems.
  8. Mentor and develop a high-performing team of mechanical design engineers, encouraging continuous professional growth.
  9. Oversee funding applications and project budgets.
