Job summary

SC ENGINEERING in Rossendale, Lancashire is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on bespoke special purpose machinery from concept through to manufacture and assembly.

You will use SolidWorks to create 3D models, detailed drawings and BOMs, ensuring manufacturability and reliability while collaborating closely with manufacturing and assembly teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical design for machinery or equipment manufacturing.
• Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modelling and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and components.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design Engineer - Special Purpose Machinery

Location: Rossendale, Lancashire

Position: Permanent

Salary: £35,000-£50,000 per annum, depending on experience

We are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a company specialising in the design and manufacture of special purpose machinery.

This is an opportunity to work on bespoke machinery projects, using SolidWorks to develop practical engineering solutions from initial concept through to manufacture and assembly.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop special purpose machinery using SolidWorks.
• Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Create bills of materials and supporting technical documentation.
• Select suitable materials and mechanical components.
• Work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve design queries.
• Review and improve designs for performance, reliability and ease of manufacture.
• Support projects through design, build and testing.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in mechanical design within a machinery or equipment manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling and detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience designing special purpose machinery, automation equipment or similar mechanical systems would be advantageous.
• A good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and mechanical components.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A relevant mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
