Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Design Engineer or similar.
• Strong experience using SolidWorks.
• Experience designing special purpose machinery.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience producing engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designing special purpose machinery and bespoke mechanical equipment.
• Producing detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Taking projects from concept through to detailed design and manufacture.
• Producing assemblies, component drawings and Bills of Materials.
• Working closely with manufacturing, project and production teams.
• Supporting the development and improvement of existing machinery and equipment.
• Ensuring designs meet relevant engineering and safety requirements.

£40,000 - £55,000 per annum

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative machinery and mechanical solutions from initial concept through to manufacture and installation.

• Designing special purpose machinery and bespoke mechanical equipment
• Producing detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks
• Taking projects from concept through to detailed design and manufacture
• Producing assemblies, component drawings and Bills of Materials
• Working closely with manufacturing, project and production teams
• Supporting the development and improvement of existing machinery and equipment
• Ensuring designs meet relevant engineering and safety requirements

The Candidate

The successful candidate is likely to have:

• Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer or similar
• Strong experience using SolidWorks
• Experience designing special purpose machinery, automated equipment or bespoke machinery
• A good understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes
• Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and BOMs
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
