Job Description

I am seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work for an innovative engineering company based in Barnsley. Your role will involve designing and developing new and existing products and projects, collaborating closely with the manufacturing team and supporting other business areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

1. Producing concept design ideas
2. Creating detailed technical drawings and 3D CAD models
3. Analyzing customer requirements to develop accurate parts and components lists
4. Reviewing drawings and preparing documentation
5. Reverse engineering products when required
6. Communicating with team members across departments, including Production and Sheet Metal
7. Adhering to health and safety regulations

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, HNC, or Apprentice Trained with industry experience
• Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential
• Knowledge of Hypermill CAD/CAM software is beneficial
• Experience in producing engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical files
• Automotive industry experience is advantageous but not essential
• Ability to present designs to customers
• Experience in preparing BOMs
• Creative problem-solving skills

Additional Details

Work hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Holidays include the first week of May, two weeks in August, Christmas week, and bank holidays.
