Company Overview

The Company is a specialist engineering firm seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team.

Responsibilities

1. Design and develop bespoke fixtures for internal use and customer sales as part of a new product range.
2. Contribute to the development of high-accuracy test equipment by identifying design improvements and developing future product generations.
3. Collaborate with testing teams and customers to define and capture design specifications and requirements.
4. Create 3D CAD parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
5. Prototype and build designs using workshop tools such as 3D printers and CNC machines.
6. Conduct testing and validation of designs for functionality and manufacturability (DFM).
7. Generate detailed 2D CAD drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.

The Candidate

• Bachelor's degree in a related science or engineering field with experience in mechanical design.
• At least 2 years of experience in design engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).
• Knowledge of rapid prototyping and manufacturing processes (3D printing, CNC machining, etc.).
• Strong understanding of engineering principles including mechanics, stress analysis, and heat transfer.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively or independently within a team.

The Package

The salary range for this position is £28,000 to £34,000 per annum, plus benefits and bonus for qualified candidates.
