Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Technical Director for Data Centres in a hybrid role spanning the UK and Europe. You will lead a team of mechanical professionals, shape delivery standards and drive work-winning activity for hyperscale and co-location projects.

You will leverage extensive experience in data centre mechanical design, project delivery and client engagement to deliver high‑profile programs across EMEA while mentoring and growing a regional team.

Qualifications

• Strong background in delivering Mechanical project work across Data Centres and Mission Critical Environments.
• Experience leading DC project work streams in UK & across EMEA.
• Demonstrable client facing and work winning experience.
• Excellent team leadership and development capability.
• Detailed knowledge of Mechanical design, engineering practices for Data Centres and its interface with the client.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience managing project financials.
• Ability to communicate internally and externally with clear written and verbal skills.
• Good financial understanding of projects to ensure success.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the growing Data Centre team.
• Provide management, leadership and a strong grounding in engineering and technical skills in the Data Centre sector.
• Ensure projects achieve required results and deliverables are fully developed to meet client needs.
• Determine project deliverables and requirements, organise schedules, manage teams and resources and develop standards and quality guidelines for the Data Centre Mechanical sector.
• Provide oversight into the EMEA DC Sector technical delivery strategy including standards, mentoring and knowledge transfer.
• Involve in Work Winning and Business Development to leverage opportunities with clients for MEP solutions in the DC Sector.
• Provide programme management expertise and commercial oversight for major projects to ensure delivery commitments are met.
• Monitor project risk and risk mitigation strategies and assist in issue resolution.
• Provide seamless, coordinated delivery of all Mechanical services across the region.
• Partner with clients to understand their business, structure and culture and respond to market changes.
