Job summary

AECOM seeks a seasoned Mechanical Director for our Data Centre sector in the UK. You will lead a team delivering mechanical/services across DC projects, interfacing with clients and AHJs, and coordinating multi-discipline delivery to ensure consistent, on-time results.

The role demands a strong track record in DC project delivery, work-winning capability, and leadership across UK and EMEA. Hybrid working options are available within our global infrastructure firm.

Qualifications

• Strong career background in mechanical or electrical project work across Data Centres and Mission Critical Environments.
• Proven experience of leading DC project work streams in UK & preferably across EMEA.
• Demonstrable client facing and work winning experience.
• Able to demonstrate excellent team leadership and development capability.
• Detailed Knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical design, engineering practices, techniques and procedures for Data Centres and how it interfaces with the client.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience in managing project financials.
• Ability to communicate internally and externally through excellent written and verbal skills.
• A good financial understanding of projects and the requirements needed to ensure the success of a Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the growing and expanding Data Centre CA team.
• CA Services monitoring across multiple disciplines, including, Architectural, Structural, Civil, Ground Engineering, Landscape, Mechanical, Electrical, BAS, Telecoms, Security, Public Health, Fire Engineering and LEED.
• Provision of Principle Designer and Responsible Designer Services during construction to interface with local AHJ and GCs.
• Provision of multi-discipline, site-based teams, supported by our office-based design teams.
• Provision of design services throughout the construction stage to accommodate client and GC driven design changes.
• Data centre sites had different GCs and different client representatives (but same client). Our CA services management and engineering team organisation ensured we provided a consistent approach across all projects.
• Ensure projects achieve their required results, deliverables are full developed and meet the needs our all our diverse clients
• Be involved in Work Winning and Business Development – leveraging a strong pipeline of opportunities with existing and new clients to provide MEP solutions within the DC Sector
• Provide programme management expertise and commercial oversight for major projects to ensure integrated teams’ delivery commitments are met
• Monitor project risk and risk mitigation strategy project KPIs and assists in resolution of issues or deviations
• Provide a seamless, consistent, co-ordinated and on time delivery of all Mechanical services across the region
• Fully partner with our clients to fully understand their business, organisation structure and culture, being proactive to their needs and market changes.
