Job summary

Blue Arrow is seeking a Mechanical Craftsperson / Engineer for a Birmingham site on a 3‑month initial contract. You will deliver mechanical maintenance services, ensure Planned Preventive Maintenance and records comply with HTM standards, and support the contract requirements.

Role involves managing work via CAFM systems, understanding AHU/FCU, boilers and plantroom equipment, with standard hours Mon–Fri and 8am–4pm or 11am–7pm shifts.

Qualifications

  • Must have City & Guilds Mechanical qualifications.
  • Understanding of AHU, FCU, Boilers, Calorifiers and plantroom equipment.
  • Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • Healthcare and/or Healthcare PFI experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operational delivery for site activity.
  • To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services.
  • Manage individually assigned work effectively to ensure site performance via CAFM systems and other digital tools.
  • Achieve and maintain AP/CP appointments in disciplines as requested by estates management.
  • Interpret and work from instructions, drawings and specifications for own trade, without supervision.
  • Set up New Work for own trade using relevant tools and machinery, without supervision.
  • Carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report defects to Mechanical Team Leader.
  • Ensure all PPM work is carried out in compliance with maintenance instructions.
  • Record information for operation of Maximo or similar system.

Job description

Mechanical Craftsperson / Engineer

Location: Birmingham

Duration: 3 Months initially

Hours: Mon - Fri with flexibility to suit site requirements. (Roles are either 8am-4pm or 11am-7pm).

Overview

Responsible for the delivery of mechanical engineering maintenance service in line with contractual obligations, industry best practice and relevant standards and guidance (HTM). The role is to ensure planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown/reactive maintenance activities on the estate are completed and records maintained.

Duties
  • Assist in the operational delivery for site activity
  • To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services
  • Manage individually assigned work effectively to ensure site performance via use of CAFM systems and other digital based management tools is accurate when reviewed by management
  • Achieve and maintain AP/CP appointments in disciplines as requested by estates management team to support the contract where required and appropriate
  • Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.
  • Set up New Work appropriate to his/her own trade using relevant tools, equipment and machinery, without supervision, as appropriate to his/her grade.
  • To carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances to the Mechanical Team Leader.
  • Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions.
  • To record information as required for the operation of Maximo or similar system.
  • To understand the working of Mechanical systems within Estate.
