Job summary

JMG Solutions Ltd in London seeks an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to oversee mechanical contractors and drive delivery of large-scale projects.

You will review IFC designs, develop shop drawings, monitor programs, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure commissioning and handover meet project requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager or in a similar mechanical construction role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, particularly CHW, plumbing, fire protection and HVAC systems.
• Experience managing mechanical contractors on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of IFC drawings, shop drawings, material approvals and construction programmes.
• Experience with mechanical testing, commissioning and system handover.
• Ability to coordinate multiple contractors, resolve technical challenges and drive programme delivery.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review IFC designs to understand project scope and identify design issues.
• Support development and review of mechanical shop drawings, monitoring progress against the programme.
• Assist with technical reviews of proposed materials and equipment, tracking approvals and procurement.
• Monitor site progress, contractor resources, labour allocation and equipment availability to maximise productivity.
• Inspect installation works to ensure quality standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with mechanical contractors and main contractor to resolve technical issues and delays.
• Develop work sequences, short-term programmes and labour forecasts to support progress recovery.
• Assist with preparation and review of method statements and resolve technical queries with site teams.
• Develop flushing sequences and associated method statements.
• Carry out mechanical system walkdowns ahead of testing and commissioning.
• Oversee mechanical commissioning activities, including pressure testing, leak testing, flushing and balancing.
• Coordinate with specialist equipment suppliers to ensure readiness for installation and commissioning.
• Support contractors through advanced commissioning stages and ensure systems are completed per project requirements.
