Job summary

Tech-People in the Twickenham area is seeking a Mechanical CAD Engineer to join a growing design team on commercial building services projects. This on-site role offers up to £45,000 DOE, excellent company package and clear career progression.

You will deliver detailed 2D mechanical layouts in AutoCAD, perform Hevacomp calculations, and coordinate with project teams from design through to construction, including CAT A and CAT B fit-outs.

Qualifications

• Strong AutoCAD 2D experience.
• Good working knowledge of Hevacomp.
• Understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
• Experience on UK commercial building services projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D mechanical layouts using AutoCAD.
• Carrying out heating and cooling load calculations using Hevacomp.
• Completing ductwork and pipework pressure loss calculations.
• Producing accurate technical drawings and design documentation.
• Preparing technical submittals, schedules and supporting documentation.
• Coordinating designs with project and engineering teams.
• Supporting projects through design, coordination and construction.
• Working across CAT A and CAT B fit-outs.
• Ensuring designs are accurate, practical and delivered to standards.

Are you a Mechanical CAD Engineer or Mechanical Design Technician looking for a permanent role where you can work on exciting commercial building services projects and become a key part of a growing design team?

I'm working with a well-established mechanical building services contractor with a strong pipeline of commercial projects, who is looking to add an experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer to their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of design, takes pride in producing accurate work and wants to build a long-term career with an established and forward-thinking contractor.

You'll be working across a varied portfolio of commercial projects, supporting designs from the early stages right through to construction and completion.

The Role

As a Mechanical CAD Engineer, you'll play an important role in delivering detailed mechanical building services designs across a range of commercial projects.

You'll be responsible for:

• Producing detailed 2D mechanical layouts using AutoCAD
• Carrying out heating and cooling load calculations using Hevacomp
• Completing ductwork and pipework pressure loss calculations
• Producing accurate technical drawings and design documentation
• Preparing technical submittals, schedules and supporting documentation
• Coordinating designs with project and engineering teams
• Supporting projects through design, coordination and construction
• Working across commercial projects including CAT A and CAT B fit-outs
• Ensuring designs are accurate, practical and delivered to the required standards

What We're Looking For

• Strong AutoCAD 2D experience
• Good working knowledge of Hevacomp
• Solid understanding of mechanical building services design
• Previous experience producing technical drawings and design documentation
• Experience working on UK commercial building services projects
• Knowledge of CIBSE guidance and UK Building Regulations
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with project teams
