Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Engineer for a Wortley, Leeds site on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You will assemble and test machinery and can-making equipment, following engineering drawings, build books, and SOPs to meet quality standards. The role requires at least 2 years’ assembly/testing experience, a Level 3 apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, and a good grasp of lean principles.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Assembly and testing OEM machinery.
• Level 3 apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of assembly activities including fitting and testing.
• Understanding of basic Lean Principles.
• Good hand skills to assemble and test can-making equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test machinery and can-making equipment using drawings and SOPs.
• Participate in non-conformance investigations and document data.
• Ensure stock control procedures are followed and support cost-saving initiatives.
• Prioritise workload and stay calm under pressure while providing feedback for improvements.
• Work autonomously while delivering high-quality work.

Your mission in CMbE

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and testing machinery and can making equipment using engineering drawings, machine build books and SOPs to produce quality work to the required standard. The ideal candidate will have experience participating in non-conformance investigations, and in documenting relevant data. They will ensure compliance with stock control procedures and actively contribute to cost-saving initiatives while providing constructive feedback to the improvement team. As part of the role, candidates must be able to prioritise workload whilst remaining calm under pressure. They will have strong problem-solving, mechanical and technical skills and possess the ability to work autonomously. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high quality of work, adaptability, make sound judgements and take initiative.

About you

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the Assembly and in testing Original Equipment Manufacturer machinery. The candidate must hold a minimum of a level 3 apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent. We require candidates to have good knowledge of Assembly Engineering activities including fitting and testing and a good understanding of Basic Lean Principles. The candidates must have good hand skills to assemble and test can-making equipment to meet customer requirements.
