Job summary

Portal Biotech Limited in London is seeking a highly motivated early-career mechanical engineer to join the Hardware team. Based on-site at Scale Space, White City, you will design and build components, subassemblies, and prototypes while developing scalable lab process solutions.

Reporting to the Instrument Team Leader, you will work cross-functionally with other teams and external partners, contribute to manufacturability planning, and produce drawings, BOMs, and test results in line with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical/thermal analysis.
• Experience designing systems and building prototypes.
• Knowledge of DFMA and GD&T standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, build mechanical components and assemblies.
• Develop microfluidic, thermal management, and electromechanical solutions.
• Run structural, thermal, and CFD analyses to optimise performance.
• Support development from concept to manufacturability (DfM/DfA).
• Create drawings and BOMs; document tests and results.
• Collaborate with vendors and partners to ensure quality production.
