Job summary

Tadcaster Grammar School is seeking a Maths Tutor (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to work with pupils in small groups up to Foundation GCSE level. The role involves planning, preparing and delivering lessons, monitoring progress and reporting outcomes under the Curriculum Team Leader.

The contract is fixed term, term time only (39 weeks), for one year up to 31 August 2027, with Monday–Friday hours including planning time and one weekly duty.

Qualifications

• Experience of planning, delivering and assessing lessons for groups of students.
• Ability to support pupils with additional needs and monitor progress.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to small groups up to Foundation GCSE level.
• Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress under supervision.
• Support the Curriculum Team Leader and Learning Support Team in providing inclusive education.

Maths Tutor (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

Contract Type: Fixed Term, Term Time Only (39 weeks)

Thank you for your interest in the post of HLTA Maths.

This role complements the curriculum offering in the Maths Team at TGS.

It will involve planning, preparing and delivering lessons to small numbers of students as well as monitoring pupils, assessing, recording and reporting on pupils' achievement and progress, under the direction of the Curriculum Team Leader. The small groups of students are likely to be selected from those who are working towards age expected outcomes, up to Foundation GCSE level.

The contract is for 28.75 hours per week, term time only (including training days) fixed term for one year up to 31st August 2027. Your working days will be Monday - Friday. Part time will be considered. Your hours include planning and preparation time and one duty per week with the requirement to undertake a form.

Tadcaster Grammar School were recently voted the secondary schools winner of the Attachment Research Community [ARC] Award for Best Practice in the area of attachment aware trauma informed practice, so this is a real opportunity for the successful candidate to work with forward thinking, supportive and approachable colleagues as part of the Learning Support Team. You will work with vulnerable students with additional needs, including those with special educational needs, making a huge contribution to their progress and wellbeing.
