Job summary

Principal Recruitment are seeking an enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join a successful Mathematics department from September 2026. The role involves delivering engaging Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4 in a supportive secondary school environment.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS or equivalent, with strong subject knowledge and experience teaching KS3 and GCSE Maths. You will plan lessons, differentiate for abilities, prepare students for GCSEs and contribute to a positive school community.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification and relevant secondary school teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge across the secondary Maths curriculum.
  • Experience teaching KS3 and GCSE Maths.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4, adapting teaching to meet the needs and abilities of all learners.
  • Teach engaging lessons that develop students' mathematical knowledge, problem-solving skills and confidence.
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations, ensuring strong subject knowledge and exam technique.
  • Differentiate lessons appropriately for students of varying abilities, including high-achieving pupils and those requiring additional support.
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify gaps in knowledge and inform future teaching.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, effort and academic achievement.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students are encouraged to participate and achieve their potential.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Maths department to develop schemes of work, resources and teaching strategies.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and contribute to assessment and reporting processes.
  • Support students with their wider academic development and encourage a positive attitude towards Mathematics.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and departmental initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Maths Teacher will:

  • Have QTS or equivalent teaching qualification and relevant secondary school teaching experience.
  • Have strong subject knowledge across the secondary Maths curriculum.
  • Have experience teaching KS3 and GCSE Maths.
  • Be passionate about Mathematics and committed to raising student achievement.
