Job description

  • Maths Teacher required for a January start

  • Secondary school based in Cambridge

  • Teaching opportunity across KS3 and KS4

  • Opportunity to join a department committed to academic progress and engaging teaching

  • Suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers

Our client is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join a secondary school in Cambridge from January. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys challenging pupils to think independently, helping learners overcome difficulties and demonstrating how Mathematics can be applied to real-world situations. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering a well-sequenced curriculum that develops mathematical fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

The successful teacher will be expected to plan and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. They will support pupils in developing confidence across a range of topics, including number, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, ratio and proportion. Lessons should provide a balance of explanation, guided practice, independent work and opportunities for pupils to apply their understanding to unfamiliar questions.

The school is seeking a teacher who can communicate mathematical ideas clearly and use a range of strategies to make challenging content accessible. The successful applicant will use diagnostic questioning, regular assessment and careful feedback to identify gaps in knowledge and address misconceptions before they become barriers to further progress. They will also encourage pupils to explain their reasoning, compare different methods and develop the resilience required to solve multi-step problems.

The role will include supporting pupils preparing for GCSE examinations, helping them develop effective revision habits and providing targeted assistance where additional practice is required. The teacher will work closely with departmental colleagues to review pupil performance, plan learning sequences and share resources that contribute to consistent standards of teaching.

Beyond academic outcomes, the school values teachers who build positive relationships with pupils, encourage participation and establish a classroom environment in which learners feel comfortable asking questions and developing their understanding. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, flexibility and a genuine commitment to helping pupils make progress.

School Information:

The school is based in Cambridge and offers a rewarding opportunity for a Mathematics Teacher seeking to contribute to a strong educational community. The successful applicant will help pupils develop the analytical and logical thinking skills that support success not only in Mathematics but also across other subjects and future educational pathways.

The department aims to ensure that pupils build secure foundations before progressing to more complex mathematical concepts. Through clear explanations, carefully planned practice and regular assessment, teachers help learners develop the confidence to approach difficult questions and recognise their own improvement.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, contribute to curriculum development and support initiatives aimed at improving attainment and engagement. This role is well suited to a teacher who wants to develop professionally while making a meaningful contribution to pupils' long-term academic success.
