Job summary

Outcomes First Group’s Groveside School in Reading is seeking a passionate PE Teacher to deliver high-quality physical education and lead a vibrant extra-curricular offer. You will shape an engaging PE curriculum and contribute to pupil development across 7-16 with SEND/SEMH needs.

The role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week, term-time only, starting December 2026. The salary is £45,000 per annum plus a £1,000 welcome bonus, with UK applicants only and no sponsorship available.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent required to teach PE.
  • Demonstrated passion for PE and student wellbeing.
  • Ability to engage pupils and adapt for SEND/SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons and activities.
  • Develop a vibrant extra-curricular PE and wellbeing program.
  • Use assessment to monitor pupil progress and report outcomes.
  • Adapt activities to ensure inclusive participation for all pupils.
  • Create safe, stimulating learning environments and manage equipment.
  • Promote physical activity for confidence, teamwork, and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, LSAs, and families for support.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and school improvement.

Location: Groveside School, Reading, RG2 7AY

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday

Salary: £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata) plus a Welcome Bonus of £1000*

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

What you will be doing
  • Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons and physical development activities that inspire participation and progress
  • Build a vibrant extra-curricular offer including clubs, wellbeing sessions, team games and enrichment opportunities
  • Use assessment to monitor, record and report on pupil progress, celebrating success and supporting every learner
  • Adapt PE and physical activity to ensure pupils with SEND and SEMH needs can participate safely and meaningfully
  • Create safe, stimulating learning environments, organising equipment, spaces and groupings effectively
  • Promote physical activity as a tool for confidence, regulation, teamwork and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, LSAs, care staff and families to ensure consistent support for pupils
  • Contribute to curriculum development, school improvement priorities and the wider life of the school

About Us

Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils.
