Job summary

Groveside School is seeking a Maths Teacher to deliver engaging lessons for learners with SEND, ASD and SEMH. You will adapt teaching to individual needs, build relationships and contribute to school improvement in a supportive setting.

The role offers a permanent position starting September 2026, with a Welcome Bonus and a commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing. Relevant qualifications and a collaborative team are essential.

Qualifications

• QTS qualification or equivalent required.
• Experience teaching Maths and working with pupils with SEND, ASD, SEMH and/or challenging behaviour.
• The resilience to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and pupil development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to individual needs, abilities and learning styles.
• Monitor and assess progress, using data and other strategies to identify next steps and raise achievement.
• Develop personalised learning and behaviour plans alongside colleagues and other professionals.
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and self-regulation through positive and restorative approaches.
• Work collaboratively with Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, Care and other professionals to provide consistent support.
• Contribute to the development of the Maths curriculum and wider school improvement priorities.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, communication, record keeping and pupil wellbeing.

At Groveside School, we’re looking for an inspiring and resilient Maths Teacher to join our supportive team and help our pupils discover their potential. What you will bring

We’re looking for a qualified and inspirational teacher who can combine high expectations with patience, creativity and compassion.

• QTS qualification or equivalent required
• Experience teaching Maths and working with pupils with SEND, ASD, SEMH and/or challenging behaviour.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

About Us

Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils.
