Job summary

St Joseph Catholic Multi Academy Trust in the Liverpool City Region is seeking an outstanding Maths Consultant to lead a Trust-wide improvement programme at a pivotal growth stage. You will work closely with Headteachers, senior leaders and classroom teachers to provide hands-on leadership across academies and raise attainment in mathematics.

The role is predominantly school-based, focusing on curriculum development, assessment standardisation and targeted interventions to drive outcomes for KS4

Responsibilities

• Lead the Trust’s mathematics improvement strategy with a clear focus on KS4 attainment, progress, Basics 4+ and Basics 5+.
• Develop and implement a stronger KS4 mathematics curriculum with sequencing, progression, fluency, reasoning and examination readiness.
• Strengthen assessment and standardisation across KS3 and KS4 to identify gaps and readiness accurately.
• Establish consistent feedback and error analysis so pupils act on feedback and teachers adapt teaching.
• Strengthen numeracy foundations including number sense, fluency, language and KS2 to KS3 transition.
• Report termly on impact including attainment, progress, Basics, intervention and leadership capacity.
• Work directly with pupils through teaching, modelling, diagnostic work, intervention and exam preparation.
• Coach staff through planning, professional development, curriculum support and leadership challenges.
• Improve teaching through lesson visits, modelling, instructional coaching, diagnostic assessment and hinge questions.
• Lead mathematics intervention including Year 11 raising-attainment plans and targeted support for disadvantaged pupils and SEND.
• Support Trust Reviews, Board reporting and quality-assurance activities with mathematics as a focus.
• Lead the Mathematics Subject Network and coordinate improvement work with external partners to add value.
• Analyse performance and develop resources across the Trust and report impact.
• Coordinate work with partners to ensure external support is coherent and adds value.
• Support onboarding of new schools by aligning with SJCMAT expectations and context.
• Develop Heads of Mathematics and other leaders so improvement is owned by schools.
